Five illegal arms factories unearthed in Munger, 4 held

MUNGER: Manufacturers of illegal firearms here have now adopted a new modus operandi. They have started shifting their factories in agricultural fields as covered with green crops it can divert the attention of the police.
SP Ashish Bharti said the district police came to know about this modus operandi on Thursday and unearthed five illegal mini gun factories and arrested four persons engaged in manufacturing firearms.

“On a tip-off that few persons were engaged in manufacturing firearms at the foothills of Harsaiya at Fulhat Patam village under Naya Ram Nagar police station, a raid was conducted. We were surprised to find that five illegal mini gun factories were operating in the mustard fields at Fulhat village which also has Maoist presence,” said the SP.
While four persons engaged in arms manufacturing were arrested, three others managed to escape. The arrested persons include Ashok Tanti and Pappu Sah, residents of Suturkhana under Mufassil police station, while another arrested Sanjay Sharma, is a resident of Maksuspur village under Kashimbazar police station and Kailash Yadav, is a resident of Fulhat Patam village. Police also seized five pistols, five base machines, two cartridges, four magazines, two drilling machines and five incomplete magazines from the factories.
“The arrested persons disclosed that one Mohammad Mintoo of Mubarakchak village under Mufassil police station was the owner of the factories and he had taken the field on rent from Kailash Yadav and Bipin Yadav, both residents of Fulhat Patam village, on a rent of Rs 600 per day,” said the SP.
He said raids are on to arrest Mintoo and three others who managed to escape.
